Well I am now 34. It doesn’t feel any different than 33, but it does sound a lot weird to say. Maybe because I realize I am one year close to 35…from early 30’s to the middle ground. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate being 30 something. I am grateful for every year that I am alive. It’s just odd.
Yesterday my brain was flooded with random birthday memories. Some are my favorites, some are just really random, and some are just crazy. I thought that they might be worth blogging and that maybe a person or two out there might enjoy them. Keep in mind these are just a few, there are many many more.
1. I am not sure for how many years in a row it was (I’d have to double check with my mom) but I had a doll cake. What’s a doll cake you ask? A doll cake is where you take a barbie like doll and insert it into a cake that is shaped and frosted like a dress. You can see a picture here. I am not sure how this tradition started but I know there is picture after picture of me with a doll cake on my bday.
2. My Aunt Ruth always calls me on my birthday and sings to me. I realize people get sung to a lot on their birthday but there is just something super sweet about hearing her sing to me.
3. My Mom will at some point recount some detail of my birth. My favorite is how I interrupted my Dad watching Wonder Woman.
4. My Dad will always call and harass me about getting old. He doesn’t take into account the older I get, the older he gets.
5. Throughout high school, if my birthday fell on a school day, my Mom would send me 4 or 5 balloons to school with a note telling me happy birthday and she loved me. The balloons were these fun pastel colors that reminded me of Easter eggs. I loved how they looked and that she took the time to send them to me.
6. Until we got “old” and got day jobs, Carol used to always try to be the first one to say happy birthday to me. I got many a call or text just after midnight.
7. M&M pulled a surprise birthday party over on me one year. The guise was Katie wanted girls to come over to hang with the boys watched Wrestle Mania. I walked in and was stunned to find people hollering happy birthday.
8. I tend to have interesting birthdays at work. One year a coworker had a rough day and it lead to a a day that goes down in history. All I have to say is “I found a stapler.”
9. I had a birthday party at the Underground one Saturday afternoon. It was awesome, tons of people came and had fun.
10. In high school my birthday was usually during the spring musical practices or performances. I would go up to the board and find little cards or goodies wishing me a happy birthday.
This year has yield lots of memories I will cherish – Stephanie made me breakfast, Kaya got me a card, Rae gave me red velvet cake, and some choose to donate to 86 Ministries in honor of my birthday. There is something special about chasing down your dreams and celebrating being born.
I am not one for mass emails, but sometimes there is a good reason for them.
We have an opportunity to purchase a building in a prime location, but we have a very tight deadline. We need to raise 225,000 dollars by March 31st.
I know that times are tight for many of us, but I believe that together we can accomplish raising this money. I know it’s cheesy but one snowflake doesn’t mean a blizzard, but when they team up it happens. Please forward this on to your friends and family, the more that know the merrier.
Please read the email below and the attachment.
Thanks for taking the time to read and for your help.
Dear friends and partners,
We have an exciting and URGENT opportunity to share with you! We would much rather share this information in person, but due to the time sensitive nature, that was not an option right now.
As many of you know, we started the Underground Concert venue ministry over 12 years ago. Although we have not been involved in that venue for the past two years, our ministry to and hearts for young people have remained constant. Our vision is to provide hope and acceptance for the rejected and neglected.
We have been praying and awaiting God’s timing and direction to be back in full-time ministry. Through a series of confirmations and times of prayer, we believe that NOW is that time.
We have located a building on Vine Street in Corryville, just one block from the University of Cincinnati (UC) campus with 38,000 students. This 16,000 square foot building was previously the Top Cats club which has been closed for over 2 years. It still has the pool tables, sound, lights and other things in place just as it did on the last day they were open. All the contents are part of the sale of the building.
This unique location would not only enable us to have multiple areas of ministry including offering a positive, alcohol-free environment for college students with a 4,500 square foot outdoor patio, a band hostel (a room to house traveling bands overnight), and other ministry opportunities too numerous to count within a community in dire need of attention.
The location would also offer income potential to help sustain the ministry with 2 apartments and band practice rooms to rent. In fact, we already have one interested tenant for the apartments and one band ready to rent a practice space and recording studio. This prime location is directly across the street from the largest tailgating location for UC sporting events. We intend to seek out partnerships with the Christian organizations on campus including, but not limited to, Athletes In Action, Campus Crusade for Christ, and the Navigators.
The owner and one of the realtors are Christians and would love to see us go into the building with a ministry as opposed to the other two sets of people interested in the same space for a bar.
The original list price was $599,000. We have an opportunity to purchase this space for just $225,000 if we can raise the cash within the next SEVEN DAYS, by April 1st!
Personally, we are in the process of selling our home as well as one of our vehicles to become debt-free and be able to make the personal financial adjustments necessary to help accomplish our goal.
We have seen God use His people to accomplish miracles even greater than this in the past and feel confident He will do it again! We greatly appreciate your consideration in how you might partner with us to obtain this building that will be a vehicle for ministering to thousands of college students in the Cincinnati area.
While we do have an established non-profit organization, due to legal limitations with unrelated business income to the non-profit, we are not able to purchase the building under the non-profit status. Therefore, your contributions towards the $225,000 would not be tax-deductible.
If you would like to contribute towards the $225,000 in the form of a short-term loan or a financial gift of any amount, please email us today to let us know. Contributions are needed by Wednesday, March 31st. (Our Limited Liability Company paperwork has not been finalized yet, so payments should be made payable to Chris Human 7 King Arthur
Court Fairfield, OH 45014.)
An additional $100,000 will be required for building renovations. Contributions towards this cause can be under the non-profit and will be tax-deductible. (Payments to 86 Ministries, 7 King Arthur Court Fairfield, OH 45014).
If you have any questions, we would love to talk with or meet with you. We are also interested in any ideas, input or networking suggestions.
Thank you, in advance, for your prayers and consideration.
In His service,
Chris & Monica Human

I sing all the songs
I read all about you
I know right from wrong
What does it amount to
If my life doesn’t show
How much I love you
I need you to break through
Tear down the walls
Let everything fall
‘cus I want to praise you
Nothing between you and me
I need you to break through
I know there is more
I’ve yet to discover
So many things
You want to uncover
I’ve been scratching the surface
I want to go deeper
I need you to break through
Tear down the walls
Let everything fall
‘cus I wanna praise you
Let nothing between you and me
I need you to break through
Break through the pride
Break through the shame
I’ve had enough
Of staying the same
Break through the fear
Open the gate
I’m getting tired
Of playing it safe
I need you to break through
Tear down the walls
Let everything fall
‘cus I want to praise you
Nothing between you and me
I need you to breakthrough
Tear down the walls
Let everything fall
‘cus I want to praise you (‘cus I want to praise you)
Nothing between you and me
I need you to break through
I need you to break through (Break through)
Break through
