8 Years

Today marks 8 years since Brian passed away.  It’s crazy honestly.  It seems like it was a lifetime ago, yet just yesterday.

To say that my world hasn’t been the same is an understatement.  It’s heart wrenching honestly to think of all the crap he and his family went through.  It sucked so bad to just sit back and not be able to do anything.  I am not sure I have ever experienced such pain and anguish as I did the night he died.

I realize that may sound over dramatic, but it’s true.  I have not had many people who are close close to me pass away.  With Brian he was like my brother.  I was so entangled in all that he was going through, it felt like I lost a battle too.

Usually every year on this date and/or his birthday I try to write a little something.  Perhaps it’s my pathetic way of remembering him and keeping the memories alive.  For this entry I want to do a Top 10 of Memories.

Fingerprints of Faith

The picture in the header was taken after a prayer event dedicating the 86 Club. The prayer event itself was unlike any prayer event I have been to before. There were people blowing shofars, laying hands everywhere on the building, and covering the place with prayer and anointing oil. Most of the people who came were specifically invited because they are prayer warriors. (I’m usually not a fan of that term, but after the event I cam to get over it.)

It was incredible to watch people canvas our building praying for a ministry and people they barely knew. Their prayers were so specific and direct that you would have thought we had been life long friends with them. As I was praying I could help but to be drawn to the places where I could see the anointing oil glistening. You could see where people had draw a cross or make just a simple line. But the places where you could see the traces of their hand really got to me.

Police Scanner Lessons

I found a police scanner ap for my Droid the other day and ever since then I have listened to it on and off at work each day.  I thought I would share with you some of the lessons I have learned.

  1. Don’t beat your child at a Cincinnati Reds game because people will call the cops and you will get arrested.
  2. Do not take 8 sleeping pills, when all you want to do is sleep.  You will not sleep, you will throw up violently.
  3. Driving the wrong way on the highway will get you a lot of attention.  It’s really not a good idea if you are drunk.
  4. Sometimes dispatch must be having a personal conversation on a different channel because I’m pretty sure “Oh you are just trying to butter me up.” isn’t really official language.
  5. It is very impressive all the crap the officers and dispatch go through.  I’m not sure I could do it.

Miss Me

Did you miss me? I forgot and let my domain expire…oops!

We Have a Home!!!!!!

I just wanted to share the latest news from 86 Ministries!

We are THRILLED to be able to share with you that we have signed the contract for the building on Vine Street in Clifton!  God has done miraculous things to bring us to this point…and it’s only just begun!
THANK YOU to everyone who contributed so far to help make this possible.  We couldn’t have done it without you!

People are already asking us…”How can I help?”. There are several ways that you can make a difference….

1.  Tell people about 86 Ministries by forwarding this message, mentioning our website and spreading the word about what we’re doing.  Encourage people to sign up for our e-newsletter.  You can easily forward this message by clicking the “forward email” link at the bottom of this message.
2.  One IMMEDIATE NEED we have is for $1,100 by this Monday, 4/19, towards our deposit.  Beyond Monday, there are additional funds to be raised to help cover inspections, closing costs, building renovations, etc.  Tax-deductible donations of any amount can be made online at:
3.   Another IMMEDIATE NEED is for a commercial building inspection and appraisal.  If you know of anyone that might be interested and able to provide these services and have a heart to help our ministry, please contact us ASAP!
4.  Once the inspections are complete, we will be having work days to clean and organize the building.  There is a LOT of work to be done and we would love your help.  Just shoot us an email (info@86ministries.com) if you would like to be a part of the clean-up process and we will keep you the loop.
5.  Once the building is cleaned up, we will be holding an OPEN HOUSE for you and your friends to come in and check the place out!
6.  We are working on setting up our Twitter account and Facebook Fan page.  These will enable us to connect with even more people.  Details coming soon.
We are so excited for the great things…GOD things…that lie ahead.  Together, we will provide hope and acceptance for the rejected and neglected and we will impact Corryville with the love of Jesus.
God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly beyond that which
we can think or imagine.
