Be Small

I believe it was Mother Teresa who said, “Small things done with great love will change the world.”  It is a quote that has always stuck in my head and heart.  I think so often we lose site of the small things.

We don’t realize the value of doing the small things and the impact they have.  We plan big events or take a stand against the bigger picture but we fail to treat the janitor with respect.  Don’t get me wrong I understand the value of big dreams and plans and the necessity standing up for what is right.  But I can’t shake the fact that we miss many opportunities to change the world because they are simply so small we don’t recognize them as important.

For me small things done with great love change the world and they change me.  They teach me to always be aware of my surroundings.  They remind me that each person that I interact with is someone special.  I may not see them that way but it doesn’t matter.  They are special and that’s the truth.

I was reminded of all this last night and I really want to challenge you to be reminded of it as well.

This weekend as you are out and about, I challenge you to do the small things with love.  Give of yourself and your resources.  Let “small things done with great love change the world and change you.”
